The World Health Organisation (WHO) already speaks of a parallel pandemic due to the psychological burden caused by the sometimes severe restrictions in our everyday lives. The next wave will have further sevevere effects on people’s mental health.
To adress this challenge is a task of Society as a whole, to which the EU, the federal government, the Länder, but also the municipalities can make their contribution.
Lord Mayor Uwe Conradt presented the MentalHealthCity initiative “Overcoming the crisis – together we can!” in an online press conference on 16th April. The state capital is pleased that Prime Minister Tobias Hans has agreed to take over the patronage of the initiative.
He stressed that: “Everyone is exposed to the pandemic, the current crisis situation. We cannot change these circumstances for now. What we have in hand, however, is how we deal with the crisis, how we set our inner attitude towards it.”

The WHO presents five tools to strengthen your mental health in difficult times (in German).
In the various district projects, citizens can find contact points, counselling services and assistance for different social problems.
