Eurodistrict SaarMoselle
What is Eurodistrict SaarMoselle ?
„Here in the border region, we stand together“ Mayor Uwe Conradt
The Eurodistrict SaarMoselle has been committed to the development of the cross-border region between Germany and France for over 10 years.
The Eurodistrict SaarMoselle is an association of towns and municipalities in the Franco-German cross-border region along the Saar. Its aim is to promote the development of this cross-border region as an economically attractive living space. To this end, the Eurodistrict is working on concrete Franco-German projects in various fields.
The Eurodistrict SaarMoselle was created on May 6, 2010 in Saarbrücken, and brings together five communities of communes in the east of the Moselle department, as well as the Regionalverband Saarbrücken. Its legal form as a European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) enables it to implement projects under its own sponsorship, with its own budget and staff, and to apply for European subsidies.

Added value without borders
The Eurodistrict is developing projects to promote exchanges between its 700 000 residents, associations and regional players. Through a variety of cross-border services, events and information offerings, it aims to offer citizens’ real benefit in their daily lives in their cross-border region. Examples include the development of a joint ticketing system for cross-border public transport, the creation of a cross-border crèche, and joint participation in international trade fairs with regional companies.
