Saarbrücken is Germany's only major city directly on the border with France. Nowhere else are Germany and France so close and so closely connected. Saarbrücken is also a real metropolis. 1.5 million people live in the greater Saarbrücken area, around 500,000 of whom live in France.

Saarbrücken - the Eurometropole in the heart of Europe

Here you can experience the best of two wonderful countries!

Saarbrücken lives the Franco-German friendship. From nurseries to schools, universities to adult education, Saarbrücken offers a unique variety of first-class Franco-German educational opportunities for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

The strong science location in Saarbrücken attracts people from outside the region and offers educational and employment opportunities for everyone in the metropolitan area.

Where Franco-German is at home

Franco-German cultural associations and institutions are based in the state capital, and renowned Franco-German and international festivals and events take place here. Germans and French also work closely together in civil society and play and learn from each other in sporting activities.

Saarbrücken benefits from its location, European freedoms, the euro and the Schengen area and has developed into a vibrant economic metropolis.

The Eurometropole of Saarbrücken combines Franco-German culture and lifestyle. It is a region
that has been shaped by both great nations and yet has developed into something of its own. Future-oriented projects with radiance will further develop Saarbrücken. For the people of Saarbrücken and the people of the greater Saarbrücken area, Franco-German friendship is both a matter close to the heart, part of everyday life and an opportunity and mission for the future.

What is special here is normal - Saarbrücken is the capital of Franco-German friendship and is on its way to becoming the Franco-German capital.
